Psychology is the study of behavior and mental processes. Counseling Psychology applies this knowledge to a therapeutic relationship between counselor and client.
Counselors will approach the counseling journey by their own unique style, offering clients new and insightful ways to process their concerns. The goals of therapy are to discover and achieve personal goals, decrease discomfort, and increase a sense of well-being.
Choosing to participate in counseling services (or trying again) is a major leap that involves some thought, and maybe even some doubt or fear. "Talk therapy" may not seem to have obvious worth or benefits. However, clients often feel a sense of relief and empowerment from engaging in their own therapeutic journey.
All clients are more than welcome to address any concern before they begin to share private thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The main idea is to use counseling to your advantage and to experience symptom relief.
